For our film, we decided we only needed one actor for the part we were going to shoot. In our previous work, we'd tried to use someone from outside our group, but it got confusing, as they weren't available at the same time as us. Joely became our main actress, so we decided to use her for the main part in this film. She has had drama training: Going to drama clubs for a number of years. She also fits the profile of a horror movie teenager: 17 years old (a realistic age to be allowed out in the woods by herself with a group of friends, but young enough to still be vulnerable. Also around our target age, so relatable for teenagers), with long blonde hair.(see outfit post for more details). As she is a female, she would get more sympathy for being the last one alive out of her group of friends.
