A boy has delusions of madmen, etc. His sister appears to hate him, and hints that he is mad. At the end, the boy kills a rabbit and his sister helps him bury it. The End.

They Live (1988)
A man finds funny dealings in a church. He finds a bag of sunglasses and takes a pair, and discovers he can see all the subliminal messages in adverts (OBEY). He also finds many high profile people are aliens and fights them. The aliens are taking over the world but he sends a signal through TV so everyone can see them.

The Thing
A dog is being pursued by people trying to kill it. They die instead and cut any radio signal from the centre in the middle of snowy nowhere where some people are. The dog is taken in by these people but then turns inside out into 'THE THING'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They discover an alien spaceship. THE THING (!!!!!) changes into different people who then kill other people, etc, until only 2 are left.

Silent Hill
Parents take their adopted child to Silent Hill, to find out about her past. After a car crash the mother wakes up in a scary alternate reality with monsters. Her husband is in normal reality, and the town is abandoned. They both search for their daughter but another woman thinks it's her missing child. The child was the other woman's child and was burned for being a witch, but survived, and her hate made everything happen.

A woman is screaming- something is wrong. It’s night-time, so is dark and scary- hard to see what’s around. There is an eerie light- it has an alien feel, or something other worldly or supernatural. The woman is attractive and scantily clad, captures the interest of the male audience? The woman is running through the middle of nowhere, which is scary, as there is no one around to help her should something go wrong. She appears to see something, and there is a close up of her face- this creates tension, as the audience can’t see what has she seen. There is a scary pale young girl, a typical ‘monster’ in horror movies.

Quarantine
A television reporter and her camera follow a couple of firemen on their night shift. The end up trapped in an apartment block. People have rabies-like symptons and start going crazy.Everyone succombs to the illness that was started by a person in a cult, until everyone is killed or infected

This synopsis is typical of a horror/thriller movie. It starts off with everything normal, so the viewers can identify with the 'normal' people in the film. Things then start to go wrong in a situation they are unable to escape. This gives the film a reason to continue, a reason why they can't leave. The people succumb one by one to the disease, which gives opportunity for tension as the people know they are going to be next.
